1916 90%-silver Mercury Dime

$9.99

The Winged Liberty Head dime, misnamed for the Roman messenger god “Mercury”, was minted between 1916 – 1945. Its obverse depicts a mythological Liberty goddess wearing wings intended to symbolize freedom of thought. The reverse bears a bundle of wooden rods, an axe, and an olive branch to symbolize America’s readiness for war combined with its desire for peace. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, it’s considered to be one of the most beautiful American coins EVER produced.
