Bay Bank Baggoes

$4.99

Incorporated in 1928 as Old Colony Trust which survived the Great Depression by buying banks, BayBanks was one of the largest holding companies in New England. BayBanks aggressively bought Automated Teller Machines (ATMs). In June 1977 it launched the BayBanks Card and the X-Press 24 hour ATM which became the preferred network throughout New England. In 1990, one in four Massachusetts citizens had a BayBanks checking account and the BayBanks ATM network had developed into the single most utilized system in the entire United States, becoming as ubiquitous in supermarkets as McDonald’s golden arches. Baybanks introduced check-image statements, providing customers with miniaturized copies of all their checks rather than the actual checks in monthly statements.
