The Roosevelt dime has been minted from 1946 to the present, soon after the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1945. When the dime was released January 30 he would have been 64. This dime’s reverse depicts a torch, olive branch, and oak branch, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength, respectively. From 1946 to 1964 this dime carried on the tradition of the Disme, Draped Bust, Capped Bust, Seated Liberty, Barber, and Mercury dimes and comprised of 90% pure silver.
