U.S. 1928 90%-silver Quarter
$8.99
The Standing Liberty quarter was minted with 90% silver from 1916 – 1930. Everett, Massachusetts born sculptor Hermon Atkins MacNeil designed the obverse of this coin with chain mail on the goddess of Liberty’s breast. The coin’s date wore away quickly in circulation and engravers modified the design in 1925 to address the issue. The reverse has an eagle in flight but the Standing Liberty quarter was discontinued in 1931, a year in which no quarters were struck. Notable inscriptions include “E Pluribus Unum” and “In God We Trust”. Sold in Good condition (G-4). 5.63 grams pure silver.
