The Canadian “10-cent piece” has been minted from 1858 – present with the value of its composition declining over the years to near nothing. From 1920 – 1966 this coin was minted with 80% pure silver. King George VI coins were minted in Canada between 1937 – 1952. George VI coins include the inscription DEI GRATIA REX meaning “Grace of God, King”. Their reverse on the Canadian dime depicts the racing schooner “Bluenose,” a famous fishing ship built in 1921 Nova Scotia.
