Tonka was founded as Mound Metalcraft in Mound, Minnesota and its trademark waves represent Lake Minnetonka. It’s known for making steel truck and machinery toys, despite being a garden-tool business. Tonka continued to fabricate metal utensils and was the original manufacturer of Pound Puppies until being acquired by Hasbro in 1991.
