2005 Canadian Dollar

The 2005 Loonie bears a 2003 obverse commemorating the 50th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation without her headdress and it’s the first time a monarch did not wear their headdress on Canadian currency since her father, King George VI, in 1948. It’s reverse bears the common loon. Canadian artist Susanna Blunt’s effigy may have been chosen to dispel a myth Queen Elizabeth II wore the wrong crown in her 1990 portrait!
